Assessment of 'Man Of The World' (lead and melody)

That was a nice rendition, Bob! Here are some points to take away, and they are mostly to do with phrasing:

    1. Work on pushing the change from the D part of the melody to the A part ahead of the beat rather than on the "1" as you are currently doing. This may mean training to play the change from the D to A chord shapes quicker.

    2. When you are strumming the partial chords with your thumb, the G string is consistently louder than the upper two strings, and is all the ear really picks up. Practice strumming the top 3 strings so that there is an even dynamic response from all the strings (ie. all equally loud). You could try using a different part of the tip or edge of your thumb to get a different response, or you may just need to follow-through more with your hand.

    3. On the solo parts: With this piece, due to its relaxed vibe you can get away with the phrasing being more free-form, so it still sounds nice. If you want to play the phrasing more accurately, you just need to work on some of the changes of hand position required to play the notes at the correct time.

All in, I'd say you did very well here, and the box-in-box video is a nice touch. Dig the hat for extra Peter Green mojo! Wink

Thanks. Useful feedback to work on.

I do feel a bit lonely with these assessments. How about you other students having a go.
