    CHRIS WU ASSESSMENT NOV 2014

Assessment of performance: Slash - Gotten

Chris, there's not much to say about this. Your performance is pretty much flawless. Good timing, proper command of right hand picking and tone, etc. The only weakness I can detect is in the occasional flammed note (muted or unclear) caused by lateness or inaccuracy of your fretting hand. This can be fixed with a little more practice.

I see that you are struggling to clearly play the G string in your E-string barre chord shape (the chord Am in this piece). It looks as though this is caused by your index (barre) finger being too curved. If you cannot straighten it any more than you are, try shifting the finger slightly up or down so that the string falls underneath a fleshy part of your finger. This chord is often difficult for students initially but once your muscle memory knows how it "feels" when you get it right, consistent accuracy usually follows. Make sure you practice this minor barre chord all the way up and down the fretboard, right down to the 1st fret (Fm).

Well done at covering quite a challenging piece!! Very Happy
